The sign up sheet for the upcoming NECAA XC relays at Thornley (full info here) is now live on our noticeboard page - this will be popular, so get your name down if you'd like to be considered for one of the teams!
There will only be one definite team per age group (plus a possible B team) so places are strictly limited. Putting your name down does not guarantee you a place on the team.
If you would like to be considered for team selection for any of the events shown below (men's, women's, U13 upwards), please add your name to the sign up sheet via our Noticeboard page.
CLOSING DATE 30th SEPTEMBER - NO LATE ENTRIES!! Entries for this event are available on our club store page - please read entry conditions carefully before submitting payment. All athletes will be listed on our noticeboard page, where the final team selection will be displayed after closing. Members will be informed after the closing date if they have been selected (either by their coach or by email/text), and any refunds will also be made then. There are three different events:- Young Athletes Road Relay
Women's 4 Stage Road Relay
Men's 6 Stage Road Relay
Full details can be found here - if you are interested in competing, please add your name to the list using this link. Potential entrants will be shown below. Closing date 7th September.
This traditional early opening to the XC season will be taking place at Farringdon on Saturday 3rd September. This event has always been well attended by Birtley AC athletes, and full details are shown below.
Junior athletes run individually - click on the image below to go to the entry page if you would like to take part - £4 per athlete. Senior athletes take part in a relay event - either as teams of 3 (women) or 4 (men). If you are interested in competing, you'll need to appoint a member of your team to make the payment for the whole team (£22 for 4 leg men's race, £20 for 3 leg women's race) - click on the image below to go to the entry page. Closing date 1st September 2022
The last fixture takes place on Saturday 6th August. We'd really like to see a good turnout from our club, both competing and also officiating - we need to provide five field judges between the two clubs, as well as a timekeeper and a track judge.
You don't need to have any qualifications to help, particularly with the field events, just a willingness to turn up and measure, retrieve or rake - please consider helping out on the day, you can still do this AND compete (or just help out!). There is a sign up sheet near the bottom of this page.

North East Youth Development League (NEYDL) 2022 - Last match of the season, don't miss it!17/7/2022
The final match of the NEYDL season will take place at Churchill Playing Fields on Sunday July 17th. Please add your names to the list below if you wish to participate. Message from Gary Curtis:-
Hello all, This is to let all U13-U17 athletes know that the NEYDL season starts at Monkton Stadium on 24/4. You may not be aware that Birtley are in a composite team with Tyne Bridge, so this means in field events where there is a maximum of 4 athletes per team, it would be 2 from us and 2 from Tyne Bridge, and where there are spaces we can try and fill them. On the track there is no limit to numbers. In all events the first 2 athletes in each team score points so it is better for the team to have athletes in as many different events as possible. Each athlete can do 3 events plus the relay. The team also need Officials and Volunteers as each team must provide 1 Track judge, 1 Timekeeper and 4 field officials, we as a team do have qualified officials to run the events but as a development league why don't you shout up and get involved. Please, when you have a minute have a look at the new NEYDL website and familiarise yourself with timetables and what it is all about (these are also shown at the bottom of this page). And as an added bonus its all paid for by your club, so WHY don't you come and have go. Regards Gary Senior entries £15 (must be at least 15 on day of race). Junior entries £5. Fun run also available. Full details and entry can be found HERE
