Parking: Car parking is at Hetton Lyons country park (Downs Pit Lane, DH5 9DS), with a parking charge £2 (cash only). Parking is limited so please car share where possible. Considerate parking is essential to the ongoing use of this venue. Start Times: 12:00 4 Leg Relay: Senior Women, Veteran Women (Over 35), Veteran Men (Over 50) 13:15 6 Leg Relay: Senior Men, Veteran Men (Over 40) CONDITIONS OF ENTRY The championships are open to members of NECAA Clubs affiliated to England Athletics who meet one of the following criteria: (a) By birth (b) By nine months continuous bona fide residence in the County immediately prior to the competition (c) By service in a Unit of HM Forces stationed in the County for nine months immediately prior to the date of competition NECAA operate under UKA G2 (21) S6 as one county All competitors must be first claim membership for the club they represent. Guest teams may only compete with advance invitation from the NECAA Road Running Committee. All competitors must wear registered club colours as failure to do so may lead to disqualification. (see UK Athletics Rule T5 (143) S1 (3), including supplement 1/4/19). Club members must wear the same vest design Senior Men and Over 40 Veteran Men's teams will consist of six runners. Veteran Men must be 40 on the day of the race. Women's and Over 50 Veteran Men's teams will consist of four runners. Veteran Women must be 35 on the day of the race. All runners must be at least 15 years old on the day of the race. Runners can only compete in one category and can only run one leg. NECAA medals will be awarded to the first three clubs in each championship category. (Only one set of medals can be won by a club in each category.) The Royal Signals Trophy will be awarded to the first team in the Senior Men's Championship. Clubs knowingly fielding ineligible athletes may be banned from future Championships. The organisers reserve the right to delay the start time or to postpone the race, if necessary. If the event is running behind schedule, there may be a mass start for final leg runners in their respective race. All competitors must be ready to run at short notice. The Northern T&F Indoor Champs take place on the 15/16 January (U17/U20/Seniors) and the 6th Feb (U13/U15). Full details can be seen here and any Birtley athlete competing in these champs will be entitled to a refund after the event - please make your entry yourself (closing dates 17th Dec/17th Jan respectively) then contact me afterwards so we can sort out your refund.

The season is upon us, and we have some amazing cross country courses to look forward to this year. As usual, the club will pay your entry fee for this event (see form below), and we hope to see lots of you out there this season. Northern Athletics Cross Country Championships: Saturday January 29th 2022 Pontefract English National Cross Country Championships: Saturday February 26th 2022 Parliament Hill Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships: Saturday March 12th 2022 Prestwold Hall. The first three finishers in the county championships will have automatic selection for NECAA teams. The next priority race - Northern Championships – will indicate current form and teams will be selected the following day. If athletes are unable to run the Northerns, all other cross country races will then be taken into account if the selectors are informed. Birtley AC have traditionally supported this event, with lots of both our junior and senior athletes taking part in recent years. It's an affordable, local race and well worth an entry - give it a go! 1. Clubs can nominate 12 names per Senior Men’s team and 9 for all other teams entered. i.e. Max of 36 names for 3 Teams entered in Senior Men and 27 for 3 Teams entered in all other age groups
2. Entries must all be done online. 3. The entry fee is £40 for senior men's relay (x4) and £30 for all other relays (x3) 4. UKA first claim and age group rules apply. 5. Athletes will be allowed to change their first claim club after the closing date for entries on condition that :- i) He / She has been entered by the closing date for entries by their former first claim Club. ii) England Athletics have approved the change of first claim club. iii) The request to change the first claim club, and confirmation by England Athletics, has been received by the Championship Secretary by 12.00 on the Friday, two weeks and one day before the date of competition (ie 22nd October). 6. Clubs may enter Foreign Athletes BUT ALL must be Bona Fide and Permanent Residents in the UK and Registered as Foreign Athletes with UKA by January 1st 2021 7. University/Higher Education teams may enter but can only include 1st Claim members of open clubs that are NOT entering teams in an age group themselves, University/Higher Education teams will NOT be eligible for any awards. 8. Clubs are required to complete and sign a declaration form on the day from names on the entry list via the online system. 9. Race information will be sent by email after the closing date. 10. Northern Athletics In association with Sheffield Running Club Presents Northern Cross Country Relay Championships incorporating The Cutler’s Relay, South Yorkshire Cross Country Relay Championships (Under UKA Rules) Permit Applied for at Graves Park, Sheffield Saturday 23rd October 2021 CLUB COLOURS & VEST/CROP TOP ALL OF THE SAME DESIGN MUST BE WORN Clubs may submit a maximum of 9 names per team (3 Stage) or 12 names per team (4 Stage) There is no restriction on the number of teams a club may enter except in U11 event where a maximum of 2 teams per club will be accepted.
Age Groups U11 Competitors 8, 9 & 10 years on 31st August/1st September 2021. ( Note for information: The U11 race is not an area championship event, but is a South Yorkshire championship event) U13 Competitors 11 & 12 years on 31st August/1st September 2021. (Team managers can enter athletes aged 11 on the day of competition to compete as an U13) U15 Competitors 13 & 14 years on 31st August / 1st September 2021 U17 Competitors 15 & 16 years on 31st August / 1st September 2021 Senior Competitors 17 years and over on 31st August / 1st September 2021. Entries All entries must be submitted through the Northern Athletics website online entry system Entry fees as below. U17/U15/U13 /U11 £21.00 per team Senior Women £24.00 per team (3 Stage) Senior Men £32.00 per team (4 Stage) Conditions of Entry Entries from Clubs will only be accepted if the Club is currently affiliated to BOTH Northern Athletics and England Athletics and based in the Northern Athletics area. Team members MUST be first claim members of that club AND registered with England Athletics. England Athletics Registration Numbers MUST be included. Athletes without registration numbers will not be accepted. (U11 athletes are exempt from this condition) Any Foreign Athletes in the team MUST also be currently registered with UKA as Foreign Athletes. All team and athlete affiliation will be verified prior to the event. A club can enter as many foreign athletes as they wish but only 2 may run in each declared team. Entries must be submitted via the official online entry system and the correct fees paid at the time of entry. Late & incorrectly submitted entries will be rejected by the Sportsoft entry portal Acknowledgement of entry will be by return email and final instructions will be emailed prior to the event. Clubs that run ineligible or unregistered runners will be disqualified and may have their entry refused for the 2022 event All Northern Athletics Clubs affiliated to England Athletics are eligible to enter the 2021 ECCA National Relay Championships regardless of affiliation to NA. Prizes & Awards Northern Championships Championship medals will be awarded to the first 3 ‘A’ teams to finish (male & female) in each age group excluding U11 age group. (NB: Non Championship event. Awards will be made to the first three U11 teams). If a club finishes more than one team then the team finishing highest is declared to be their ‘A’ team and the other their ‘B’ team. The first ‘B’ team to finish will win ‘B’ team medals. (Bronze) We'd like lots of you to step up and enter these relays please! Our mens teams did so well at the Northern Relays that they have won a team place in the prestigious 6 stage event, and there are junior and women's events too, so it should be a great day out for all - however, there is a very short window of opportunity for entries, as we must have your names (and refundable entry fee) by September 30th. As this is the last match of the season, we hope to see as many young athletes taking part as possible. This is a free event, and a great opportunity to have a go at a discipline that you may not even have tried previously - you might just find something you love doing!

As these are a North East Championships, the club will refund your first track or field event entry*. We hope to see lots of our athletes competing and coming away with medals - becoming a county champion is a great achievement and we have had many of them in the past, I'm sure we'll see more this year!
