My child can only attend on a Tuesday - do they still need to pay £3?

Yes, whether you attend one or both sessions, the weekly subs are due at the first session you attend each week

What age do you take children from? ​

We accept children from the age of 7 (adults must remain on site) ​

When is my membership due? ​

Membership is due a year after your first membership payment

If I join later in the year, how much will I pay?

No matter when you join, the price remains the same.

how do I find Birtley AC at an outdoor event?

Look for the Birtley colours and coaches (or our flag + tent at cross-country races). For many events, Birtley AC will have already registered you, but you​ will still need to get your number from one of the coaches, and let them know you’ve arrived.    ​

What do I need to bring to a race?

•  Remember to pack your vest and spikes (if needed) - most events require you to wear your club vest. Cross-country can sometimes be cold and wet – remember to bring a change of clothing and a big bag​ for the muddy stuff!

How do I enter races? ​

• To enter the Harrier League (XC), tell your coach or email our club secretary. Most main competitions (North-East, Northern and National Comps) require club entries - keep an eye on our Fixtures page and the club shop, as well as sign-in sheets at club. Certain events (e.g. North Eastern Athletics League, Masters T&F league) require you to register on the night (pre-entries may be available, check the NECAA website and NEMAA website ) – sign up for the events you wish to compete in, then you will be given a number which is valid for the whole season.

Can I get notifications of upcoming races and events?

Yes, you can sign up for our newsletter  and also add events from our calendar to your own calendar, and add notifications. ​

Are races free?

We subsidise lots of races to allow our members to participate in a full range of events - the following events are free for members - North Eastern Championships, Northern Champs, National Champs, single event at North East Indoor T&F Champs - not an exhaustive list.  (NB anyone who enters and then does not compete will be liable for the entry fee). All Harrier league races are also free to enter for club members.   ​

Where can I find results?

Results are often displayed on the day (usually near the reporting box if a T&F event), but if not, they can usually be found online – search for the particular event and you will usually find a link to results, particularly on northeastraces.com. Harrier league results are on their website, along with race info and packs, and The Power of 10 lists all track and field results over the year, along with PBs and links to main events. Other sites include race-results.com as well as our own website!
