Some great results for Birtley at Saltwell 10k today. Darren Purvis 1st Vet, 2nd Mens Vets team (Darren Purvis, Paul Noble, Keith Robertshaw), 3rd Senior Mens team (Tom Goulding, Greg Poulton, Lewis McConnell). Plus good runs from Graeme Swaddle, Paul Agnew and Kirsty Walker. Well done all!
Tomorrow (Saturday 21st December) Gary Curtis is holding a training session at Cocken Woods with a visit to the cafe at Finchale Priory afterwards. Meet 10.15 for a 10.30 start, everybody and anybody welcome. Monday there will be a session at Elba Park at 10.30am.
There were some great performances at this weekend's North East XC Champs at Alnwick, including a double triumph for the U15s, with Katie Francis and Chris Perkins both bringing home first place trophies (Chris for the second time in a row, Katie upgrading from last year's third place finish). The u17/u20 women's team came in at 5th place, whilst the senior men managed 6th in a very strong field. Nice to see some new faces in the teams too - well done, hope to see you all entering the Northerns in January!
Congratulations to all the hardy souls who took part in what were apparently "fresh" conditions, particularly the u11s who were having their first taste of the Alnwick course. Full results (individual and team) can be seen here, whilst the u11 results can be seen here. Full info for the day can be found on Vicki's blogspot HERE - this includes parking arrangements and course maps. Good luck to all of our athletes competing on the day!
Tyne Tees recently filmed some of our athletes in action at the club, and a few of them were chosen to be interviewed about equality in our sport. The piece is due to be aired on the local news tonight (6th December) so make sure you catch it!
