Like many other races, after a two year hiatus thanks to Covid, the Essity Prudhoe Miners five mile road race returns this year.
The race is England Athletics licensed and will take place on closed roads on Sunday 18th September, starting and finishing at Eastwoods Park. Entry is open to anyone aged 15 or over. Because it is an affiliated UKEA race it will count towards athletes Power of 10. There is also a separate 2km race for 7-14 year olds. It will include some upward flat sections; as anyone from Prudhoe will tell you, it’s impossible to go for a run without hills round here! EA affiliated adults get the usual £2 discount off the adult race entry fee, and there will be prizes for the first three male and female adult finishers, including a fabulous first prize from one of our sponsors, a pair of the latest Scott Road shoes. There will also be prizes for the first male and female in the junior race. All finishers will receive a commemorative gift (spoiler alert – it isn’t a t-shirt this year) and a cake. Several local clubs have included the race in their Grand Prix this year, so we expect places to go fast. Further information will be posted on our Facebook page here Adult entries are here and Junior entries are here Saltwell Park, GatesheadA three lap marshalled traffic-free route finishing by the lake in Saltwell Park.
