On Saturday 28th December, PH Racing Club will be hosting the second instalment of the Tilli 10k, a new race in 2018, which was a fantastic success and returning again for this year.
The race is at a quiet time of the year for racing and is located in the Scottish Central Belt, starting and finishing in Tillicoultry (between Edinburgh & Glasgow). All of the details can be found on Entry Central - https://www.entrycentral.com/tilli10k We have a stellar field assembling currently and are looking to boost the sharp end of the race by offering a very decent prize pot. This year’s total prize fund is over £1500 with cash prizes awarded for first three male and female, as well as first in each five year age category. There will also be other prizes for second and third in each age group. The winners of the male and female races will each receive £120 with a £50 bonus if the course record is broken. The course records from the inaugural event in 2018 stand at 30:44 by Robbie Simpson (Commonwealth Games Marathon Bronze Medallist last year) and 37:50 by Fiona Matheson. After researching through the North East running clubs on runbritain rankings and Power of 10 we are aware that your club has runners who have run times better or close to these records this year and who would certainly be in the mix for the overall and age category prizes. We were therefore wondering if you would be able to share the details of the race (https://phracingclub.co.uk/2019/10/10/entries-open-for-2019-tilli-10k/) and our entry central link (https://www.entrycentral.com/tilli10k) to any of your members who may be interested please? We understand that this would be quite a bit of travelling from the North East up to Scotland for your members but thought it would be worth mentioning to you in case you have anyone in your club fancying a crack at prizes / the course records / visiting up here over the holiday period. We appreciate that the timing of the race means that it is on the same weekend as the very popular Ribble Valley 10k in the North West of England ,which your members may already be signed up for, however, we are hoping to put on a top class race with chipped timing and a Scottish Athletics permit along a very fast route.

Closing Date September 1st The Prudhoe Miners Race was once popular with members of the town’s working men’s clubs, but it eventually died out after the Second World War, only to be revived in 2012 to build on the legacy of the London Olympics and celebrate the town’s coal mining heritage. Now in its eighth year, the 2019 Prudhoe Miners Race is being organised by local running club, Prudhoe Plodders, sponsored by Essity and supported by Prudhoe Town Council. All monies raised will be reinvested into developing the club's coaching resources and equipment, and essentially going back into grassroots athletics. It is a 5 mile local heritage event on an undulating route, starting and finishing at Eastwoods Park, Prudhoe, NE42 5DT. This year’s brand new route takes in some of Prudhoe’s historical sites whilst avoiding the steep hill of previous years making it suitable for runners of all abilities. The club is also bringing the focus back to competitive, though inclusive, road racing. As well as the 5 mile Miners Race, there is a Junior (1.5k for U11s) and a Mini race (3k for U11-U17s) which, together with family entertainment at the park, promises to make this a great event for Prudhoe. Adults race starts at 09:00, juniors at 10:15 and minis at 10:45. Note we reserve the right to delay the start of the children's races if there are any unforeseen incidents in the adults race. The race will be chip-timed and all race finishers will receive a medal, technical t-shirt and goody bag. A park and ride service will be operational from Essity’s carpark and information on that, as well as other parking and detailed race information will be sent by email 2 weeks prior to the event. September Sprint Relays to be held at Wentworth Leisure Centre, Hexham.

Teams which contain athletes from different clubs, or unattached athletes. Teams which contain mixed genders, or athletes which are not in the corresponding age group, or one age group below. These teams are allowed but will not be eligible for points. (d) Max number of Races An athlete may not compete in each particular race more than once. For example, an U17 athlete cannot run in the U17 4x200m, and then also in the SEN 4x200m. The only exception is for U13’s who have 2 separate 4x100m races. (e) Entry Fees £1.50p per person per race (i.e. £6 per team per race). We kindly request that team managers collect monies from their athletes and pay the organisers on the day or in advance. If additional or composite teams are entered, payment can be made prior to race. (f) Race Numbers Club entries will be given a pack of numbers on the day. Each team will be allocated one number (e.g. Morpeth no.1). All team members must wear a number front & back. Mixed/Composite teams will have their numbers marked with additional letters to help identify teams, or may be given unique numbers. Team managers will be given an amount of unique numbers along with team numbers. PLEASE KINDLY RETURN ANY UNUSED NUMBERS AT END OF EVENT SO THAT WE CAN USE NEXT YEAR. (g) Points towards Team Prize Teams will only be able to score points if they are eligible as described above (section b). A club may enter 2 – teams only in each event, however only 1 team per club will be allowed to score points. In the event of more than 1 heat, results will be based on combined timed from each heat. In the event of a tie in a particular race, points will be distributed evenly between the teams which have tied. Non scoring mixed/composite teams will be removed from results for purposes of scoring. 1st – 15 pts. 2nd - 12 pts. 3rd – 9 pts. 4th – 7 pts. 5th – 6 pts. 6th – 5 pts. 7th – 4 pts. 8th – 3 pts. 9th – 2 pts. 10th – 1 pt. Above system will operate regardless of how many teams entered into a race, e.g. if 1 team is entered, they would score 15pts. If 15 teams entered, only the top 10 in the results would score points. (h) Declaration of teams It is requested that team managers complete the team overview sheet and hand in to meeting organiser as soon as possible prior to first race. Any amendments should be notified to organisers at least 15 minutes prior to each race. This sheet should indicate number of teams in each event, with any non-scoring/composite teams clearly identified. Additionally, team managers should complete a team sheet which lists athletes in each individual event. If an athlete is not running in their particular age group, this should be indicated (e.g. mention their actual age group). This sheet should be handed in once team manager is confident of its general accuracy, amendments can be made throughout evening. It is the team manager’s responsibility to ensure teams are declared correctly. Any teams incorrectly declared which may affect team points are liable for disqualification from the race. Team managers should ensure that teams present themselves at the starting area 5 minutes prior to the start of their race. (I) Power of 10 It is intended that results will be uploaded to power of 10. However, any races which contain mixed/composite teams will not be valid for ranking purposes. The Christine Brass Memorial 5k is on Sunday 15th September in Stainton Village, Barnard Castle.
