This event is always very well attended by Birtley, being almost on our doorstep! Most normal club sessions won't take place that night as a lot of the club and coaches usually go, so please check beforehand if you aren't planning on competing that night. For those who haven't entered yet, this is the link - there are events for both juniors and seniors as well as a fun run, something for everyone!
Entries and further details here:- Angel Races The North East Youth Devlopment League is a great way for your child to try their hand at lots of different athletics skills - there are races (sprints and distance), throws and jumps. Birtley form a combined team with Jarrow & Hebburn and Phoenix Flyers, and this is a great way to socialise with other young athletes as well as gaining experience in the various disciplines. Best of all, participation is free - you just need to get them signed up with our team manager Rebecca Hall. This can be done via our Spond app, where you'll receive an invitation to attend each match, or in person by speaking to Rebecca on a training night.
The dates of the remaining matches are as follows:- Sunday 19th May at Churchill Playing Fields, Whitley Bay Sunday 30th June at Shildon, Sunnydale Leisure Centre track Sunday 21st July at Churchill Playing Fields, Whitley Bay The newly developed North East senior T&F league is free for our athletes, and is a great way to try out some new disciplines that you may never have thought of doing. Birtley are a combined team with South Shields and as there are up to four places available in each event, you're likely to be able to take part in most of the events you want to (with the team managers having the final say). The events program is much more condensed than previous years, with track beginning at the same time as the field events, and there are only four fixtures over the summer so it's not too much of a commitment.
There will be a sign up on Spond for each match which you'll receive an invite for - please consider giving this a go even if track and field isn't normally your thing. It's a supportive atmosphere and you'll be encouraged to try out even if you've never done it before. The remaining match dates are as follows:- Saturday May 18th at Shildon Sunnydale Leisure Centre track Saturday June 29th at Shildon Sunnydale Leisure Centre track Saturday July 14th at Churchill Playing Fields, Whitley Bay TIMETABLE
