Entry fees (shown below) will be paid by the club as this is a championship competition, but you may be liable to repay your entry fee if you put your name on the list and then do not compete on the day. The junior prospectus is shown below. The Senior Womens race starts at 14.05 and is 4 stage (approx 5.4k). The Senior Mens race starts at 14.00 and is 6 stage (approx 6.8k).
If you wish to compete in this event, please add your name to the list available on our noticeboard page. As this is a championship race, entries will be paid for by Birtley AC - anyone who enters and then does not compete on the day may be liable to repay the entry fee. Names must be submitted by 5th September to allow entries to be made in time for the closing date. This is a great warm up for harrier season, with a nice little 1.8 mile route through the twisty Farringdon course. Entries for this event are paid for by the club - make sure you get your names on the list on our online noticeboard before the closing date of Thursday 5th September.

Aerial View - U11 Girls & Boys Course. Following discussions between Sunderland City Council, England Athletics and the North Eastern Counties AA, the Signals Relays have been given the green light to go ahead on the re-arranged date of Saturday, 31st August 2019, at the regular venue Hetton Lyons Park. If you're interested in competing, please see our sign-up sheet on the Club Noticeboard page. Entries close 19th August. A great way to sneak in an extra running session, the relays are overlooked by Durham castle and Cathedral by the river Wear. Running exclusively on closed university grounds the grass track is perfect for a “blast”. Running two laps of a 1500 metre course predominantly flat with a cheeky little bank which adds to the views over the river as you descend. Prizes for age groups, Senior Men and Women and Vets too. This event is run under EA rules and for affiliated club members only.
Please use on street parking around the city as none is available at the racecourse itself, there is plenty of parking within ten minutes walk of the course. Changing facilities will be available. Race times Race 1 6.30 PM Senior Men and Women Race 2 7.05 PM Vet Men(35+) & Vet Women(35+) & Mixed team relay - mixed team can include any combination of senior and or vets but must include at least one male and one female runner from the same club. Prizes for race 1 & 2 1st, 2nd and 3rd Teams:- Senior Men, Senior Women , Masters Men, Masters Women, Mixed team. Fastest leg Senior Male & Female & Masters Man and Masters Woman Entry Fees £15 per team, Clubs may enter more than one team. No on the day entries Race Conditions Team runners must be declared at least 15 mins before the start of a race. The Durham Association of Boys and Girls Clubs annual T&F Champs will be taking place at Middlesbrough on Sunday 28th July. There are limited events available, and there will only be one Birtley athlete chosen to compete in each event - age groups are from U11 to U20. The events are as follows:-

Please advise Ed if you will be available on that day, if selected. All matches begin at 9.30am and finish at 1pm. These matches are an ideal way to take that first step into athletics competition, with a low key atmosphere and the chance to try your hand at a new event or two. There are 3 events:- A fun run, starting at 18.15. In conjunction with the Angel 21 celebrations . All runners to get a medal. Start by the Angel view Hotel on the railway track and finish by the Angel of the North. This is a new event. Distance is 1.5 miles on tracks fields and paths. starting at 6pm parking is by the Angel View Hotel in fields A Junior Race, beginning at 18.30. A one mile run for the under 11s and 1.5 miles for the under 13s and 15s. Ages on the day. Medals to all finishers by the Angel of the North. Senior Race, beginning at 19.15. !5+ An undulating course around the Angel of the North on old railway tracks and fields and other paths. Hilly! The North East Grand Prix is a series of 6 open athletics matches that take place at either Monkton or Gateshead Stadium. There will be a choice of events at each match, with some variations for the different age groups. Start Fitness athlete of the match awards (male/female) will be announced after each fixture.
Grand Prix Rules: 1st place = 9 points down to 9th place = 1 point. Awards: 1st six in each age/gender category - must have competed at 3 or more meets. Entry:- £4.50 for first event, and £3 for each extra event. Entries will be available for the first time online this year, so you can pay ahead of the match to save queuing time on the night. All matches start at 11.15am but please arrive at least half an hour earlier to allow coaches to decide on teams. These matches are fairly low key and are a great introduction to athletics competition, and it gives a great opportunity to try out something you might never have done before, with the support of your team mates to help you!

The first event of these matches is at 11.30am (hammer) and a full timetable is shown below. You can compete in the league from U17 and these matches are an ideal opportunity to have a go at a discipline you may not have previously tried. You can be part of a team, with great support being given by all the athletes participating in the match, not just your own team members - these matches have a really nice atmosphere of friendly competition. Our division of the league (3E) consists of the following teams:- Chester le Street, New Marske Harriers, South Shields/Birtley AC, North Shields Poly, Richmond & Zetland, and Tynedale Harriers. As we are a composite team with South Shields, you may not be able to compete in every one of your events, but every effort will be made to match athletes to their chosen event whenever possible. Invitation from Blackhill:- It’s that time of the year again where we return to our roots on the former steelworks site and hold our relay event and post race festivities in Blackhill Club.
Birtley AC will pay for the first event in these prestigious championships - you only have to pay for any additional events you wish to enter. Our online entry, including your free event, can be found here. Any athlete who does not compete on the day and does not have a valid reason for this will be required to repay the entry fees to Birtley AC.
NB Please take notice of the following NECAA rules:- Any competitor who achieves a place in a Saturday final but does not take part in that final without giving a valid reason to the Chief Track Judge may be debarred from competing in any event on the Sunday. [UKA Rule 115 (3)] Athletes may compete in the Championships of only one County Association in any one calendar year. In order to be considered for selection for the Inter County competitions, athletes must have entered the NECAA Track And Field Championships. |
